American Sighthound Field Association

The sighthounds will run the course twice, a preliminary run and a final run. Scores from both runs are added for a combined total score. Sighthounds are awarded placements and points based on where they finished and the number of sighthounds they competed against. The Sighthounds are running not only for fun and to keep their natural abilities alive, but also for titles. Sighthounds are normally run in double or trios per breed, in yellow, pink, and blue colors. Judges assess performance based on each sighthound's abilities, identifying hounds by their blanket color. Sighthounds then run for Best of Breed. Finally, the Best of Breed run for Best in Field, as an optional stake. Singles Stakes are scored against the total number of dogs entered. AND Lure Coursing Instinct (LCI) is for sighthound cross/mixed dogs and/or all breed dogs. LCI is run the same as single stakes. The sighthounds are scored by the following criteria up to: Follow 15pts / Enthusiasm 15pts / Agility 25pts/ Speed 25pts / Endurance 20pts. Visit the ASFA website for more detailed information and event schedule.
